You will need a soft natural fiber brush preferably one with a long handle or a removable handle for those hard to reach areas, although you can also use a rough towel or a loofah. The most important thing is to find the type of brush you are the most comfortable with.

Always brush in long slow strokes toward the heart. Stroking away from the heart can cause undue pressure on the valves in the veins and lymph vessels which can cause varicose veins and ruptured vessels. You are brushing to encourage the lymphatic system to drain back toward the heart.
Use a lighter pressure where the skin is thinnest and a stronger firmer pressure at tougher spots like the soles of the feet.
