I received my green star juicer yesterday afternoon.
The juicer was delivered by UPS and arrived pretty quick, only taking 5 business days to ship from the warehouse to my front door.
I was okay with the 5 day delivery terms since I had chosen the free shipping option. Of course, I would have received the juicer quicker if I had opted for expedited shipping.
Although I was real excited and ready to get started juicing I decided to get a full night sleep and start fresh and early the next morning.
The excitement was still there when I jumped out of bed at about 5:30 a.m., yes I'm an early riser from years of military conditioning.
I carefully removed my Green Star Elite juice extractor, model GSE-5000 from the box and inventoried the parts.
All parts were there, except for items 20a-20c, these are parts for the pasta maker set.
At first, I was worried that a few of my parts were missing.
However when my brain fog left, I remember that the pasta maker set was not included with my model.
If you want the pasta maker set order the Green Star Elite Juice Extractor model number GSE-5300.
How to Operate the Green Star Juicer
After the quick inventory of parts I watched the DVD that came along with my green star juicer and then read the owner's operation manual from cover to cover and followed the advice contained within it.
The DVD provided some excellent demonstrations of how to operate the unit. They actual walk you through the steps of preparing a few excellent recipes.
The operation manual provides 17 complete and ready to go recipes for juices, bread sticks, soup and desserts.
I bet you didn't know you could prepare bread sticks and rice cakes with this unit, did you? You can also make pasta, nut butter, sorbets and ice cream too.
Looking inside the green star juicer operation manual I found detailed instructions on how to disassemble and reassemble the juicer. I practiced taking apart and putting the juicer back together several times. The process was very simple and straight forward.
Before juicing for the first time I washed all the washable parts in warm water and mild detergent like the operation manual suggested.
I had to be to work in a few hours so I couldn't wait for the parts to air dry after washing them. So I towel dried the parts, put the parts back together for operation, then prepared my fruits and vegetables for juicing.
How My First Glass of Juice Tasted
My green star juicer is the green star elite. It is a jumbo twin gear juicer and from what I can tell the only masticating juicer of its type where you can juice a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, extracting the most juice and nutrients.
This is one of the few juicers on the market that gives you the ability to make fresh fruit and vegetable juices equally well. This was the major reason I purchased this particular brand and model.
In the past I used my centrifugal juicer, which is a Breville model. One noticeable limitation is that I was not able to extract a reasonable amount of vegetable juice using a centrifugal juicer.
This meant my juice was mostly fruit juice and I missed out on the many antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and enzymes that are only available in freshly squeezed vegetable juice.
Okay, back to the taste of my first glass of juice using the green star elite juice extractor.
I did not use any preexisting recipe. I used only the ingredients I had on hand at the time which consisted of carrots, celery, beet root, apple, and water melon.
My first glass of juice was created using the following list of ingredients:
I prepared the vegetables and fruits for juicing following the directions in the owner/operation manual that came with the juicer. Basically cutting the produce into portions that could be easily feed into the juicer.
Based on my previous experience with centrifugal type juicers, I was amazed at the amount of juice produced using so few ingredients. In the past I would have used two and a half the amount of fruits and vegetables to get the same amount of juice.
The consistency and look of the juice was also noticeable different. In the past my juice looked layered, watered down, and off color, not the case with my first glass of juice using the green star elite. The juice looked rich and vibrantly colored like the fruits and vegetables I had juiced.
I was pleasantly surprised after the first taste.
The sweetness and texture was unmistakably different in the most positive way.
I had my son take a sip of the vegetable juice to be sure my mind was not playing tricks on me. Now understand in the past he would not drink my freshly squeezed juice.
But on this occasion he had no trouble take a nice drink and stated the juice was tasty, refreshing, and smelled good too. I agreed!
The juice tasted so good, that against my better judgment, I proceeded to drink all of the juice that remained in the glass juice pitcher all by myself, not sharing any with the wife and son.
For what it's worth that was my experience with the green star juicer.
